The Story of Minimum Wage in Australia by Sam Wallman

The Story of Minimum Wage in Australia examines the history of work and wages in Australia, and the importance of struggles undertaken to improve conditions for people in the country. Although successfully achieving a number of goals (such as the idea of a weekend) the fight to improve working and living conditions continues today.

From the idea of a living wage to studying income disparities, Sam Wallman‘s work is both visually and intellectually engaging and an important contribution to understanding the these important topics, even if not living in Australia.

This comic first appeared on Working Life, an initiative supported and published by the Australian Council of Trade Unions. We are grateful to both Sam and the Australian Council of Trades Unions for their permission to re-post this work on our website. It’s exciting to see collaborations and partnerships that allow for these types of projects to exist.
