For this year’s Peterborough Artsweek festival, the GHC has a special art installation, “Drawn to Change.” It showcases select images (in the form of panel posters) from our forthcoming comics collection “Drawn to Change: Graphic Histories of Working Class Struggle” (Between the Lines Press, Spring 2016). It features the amazing work of all of the Drawn to Change contributors: Kwentong Bayan: Labour of Love Nicole Marie Burton, Ethan Heitner, Orion Keresztesi, David Lester, Doug Nesbitt, Kara Sievewright, Tania Willard, Sam Bradd, Robin Folvik, Julia Smith, and Sean Carleton.
The posters are installed throughout the Peterborough Public Library and can be viewed from both inside and outside the building between Friday, September 18 to Sunday, September 27. The library staff are unionized as CUPE local 1833, and all of the posters are union printed from the OPSEU local 365 at Trent University. As GHC members have recently joined the Canadian Freelance Union with Unifor, we are committed to union printing and working with union folks in our work.
If you are interested in hosting a similar installation of the posters in the lead up to the publication of Drawn to Change, please contact us at graphichistorycollective@gmail.com.
